Katherine Long MES '15 is a correspondent on Insider Inc.'s fast investigations team, where she has unearthed a U.S. congressman's foreign arms sales, described how right-wing activists infiltrated a little-known society to buy access to the Supreme Court, and discovered that law enforcement is increasingly worried about neo-Nazis attacking the electrical grid to spark a race war. Her coverage of Amazon's injury epidemic won a 2022 Best in Business award for explanatory reporting. Before joining Insider, Katherine worked at The Seattle Times and attended Columbia Journalism School, where she graduated second in her class as a Pulitzer Traveling Fellow. As a Middle East Studies student, Katherine won a Fulbright research grant, Boren scholarship, and Critical Language scholarship to travel to Tajikistan, where she lived for two years after graduating from Brown. Katherine put her Tajik language skills to use as a researcher on a 2019 New York Times documentary, "Collision," about a terrorist attack on foreign cyclists in Tajikistan, which won an Emmy. Katherine lives in Seattle, Washington with her dog.
