Mara Kessler '23.5 is a concentrator in Middle East Studies from the DC area. While at Brown, she has served as Editor-in-Chief of the Brown Undergraduate Journal of Middle East Studies, volunteered as an EMT for Brown EMS, engaged in campus activism, and spent the last three years working for the Center for Middle East Studies. She studied abroad in Jordan last fall semester and then returned to Amman, Jordan to intern for Arab Reporters for Investigative Journalism and conduct research for her capstone project. She has also worked as a research assistant for the UN Special Rapporteur on human rights in Myanmar and is currently interning for Physicians for Human Rights in their advocacy department. Upon graduation in December, she hopes to find work combining her passion for human rights advocacy and interest in the healthcare field.
