Margaret Follett is a senior from Massachusetts concentrating in Middle East studies and history. Her thesis will explore the interplay between 19th century colonial and corporate conceptualizations of the Indian Ocean hajj by analyzing a series of merchant scandals in Jeddah during the 1870s. As a 2018-19 MES Undergraduate Fellow, Margaret will act as a liaison to pre-concentrators in the freshman and sophomore classes.
